Blue Jaguar Medicine Arts Welcomes You!

Greetings and welcome to our medicine arts gallery, wisdom journal, and healing kiva.   Ours is a cybercave where words, images, intentions, colors, and geometries merge with the healing powers of wisdom and creativity.  Occasionally described as "post-ascension", the art work and writings are spiritually oriented and iconographic in both form and substance.

The term "medicine art" comes from Native America.  It is a genre of art which has healing, beauty, intention for higher understanding and expanding the consciousness of the viewer as its impetus.  Some of the work aims to reveal natural law and mystical teaching.  Some has been created in response to various acts of good will taking place around the planet.  Many of the images are contemporary portraits intended to honor historical spiritual personages, such as Jesus the Christ, the Virgin of Guadalupe, the Buddha, the Mayan healer Moximon, and Pele, the Hawaiian Goddess of the Volcanoes.

The words you will find throughout the site, from titles, to quotes, to stories, are all part of the medicine art experience, as are the many forms of portraiture culled from the stage, the sky, the garden, the family.

The beauty, power and intelligence of the natural world is also an important tangent of medicine art.  Sacred land and skyscapes, weather, fire, water, trees, and plants all reflect the devic world which underlies and animates all of nature. Understanding the connection we all share with the natural world begins an important process that can shape, balance, inform and empower our daily lives in many surprising and unexpected ways.

The "Blue Jaguar" comes from the Maya tradition.  It represents the sun by day, shining and healing and maintaining the integrity of life.  By night, it becomes the "were-jaguar", travelling through the dreamtime and the underworld, uprooting negative influences and replacing them with peace, light and wisdom.

Anyone, absolutely anyone, can create medicine art.  Medicine art is not about talent, or trend, interior decor or society's sanction.  It is based in the heartfelt desire to be of help to others. A stick figure with arms outstretched to the sun, as a symbol of your loved one receiving what is needed for their healing journey, is far more powerful than the most elaborate masterpiece flamboyant with style but lacking in healing intention.  While all acts which bring more beauty into the world are to be appreciated for their contribution, "medicine art" is that which aspires to ground into our physical reality a healing bridge between worlds.
